History of the Siata Spring
The Siata Spring was Siata's response to market research conducted among the Italian youth. The resulting automobile was a sports car based on the Fiat 850. The Siata Spring was produced from 1968 until 1970 when Siata went bankrupt. The production line was then adopted by ORSA who then resumed production of the spring which was now based on the SEAT 850 Special. Because of this the engine displacement increased to 903cc and the power upped to 47 brake horsepower. The eventual demise of the spring came about in 1973 when the oil crisis struck, damaging sports car sales across the world.
